So most people that know me personally, know that I have been a huge advocate of Bare Minerals. I've been using myself for about six years, and have used it on clients as well. I was pleased with the coverage, appreciated the lightness on my skin, and thought it was great that it added nutrients to the skin.
About a year ago, I started having some skin issues. Mind you, I have a full on facial setup in my home. I'm certified in diamond microdermabrasion and have an additional facial machine where I can do disincrustation and galvanic facials. I also do glycolic peels regularly, and TCA peels periodically. It felt like as soon as I was removing gunk from my pores, it was back the next day. I had TONS of blackheads...on my face and my NECK. I could also feel dozens on tiny bumps when I'd run my fingertips over my face. I could not understand the source of the problem...especially with the care I take with my skin,
One day I decided to do some online research. I typed in "bare minerals + acne" and was floored with what I found. Although marketed as great for problem skin, for others it can CAUSE the problems. A lot of people are sensitive to the ingredients in mineral makeup, and many have problems with excessive blackhead buildup and tiny bumps. Without looking back, I stopped using the line.
Six months later, my skin is finally back to normal. I'm back to using MAC powder/foundation, and find I have to do microdermabrasion and peels much less frequently. I no longer have the strange bumps.
If you have sensitive skin and have had some trouble using mineral makeup, SWITCH!! :)
