So I have a lot of people that ask me on a regular basis for recommendations on various products. While I am Redken born and raised, and I will always recommend their products first, there are people who like to question other product lines as well. So, here are my favorites:
Favorite Clarifying Shampoos: Redken Hair Cleansing Cream or Pravana Sulfate Free Clarifying Shampoo. (When on a strict budget, I can also comfortably recommend Neutrogena "The Anti-Residue Shampoo". If you need a GOOD clarifying and the shampoo doesn't do the trick, you need a salon service for the Redken "Pre Art" system.
Favorite Smoothing Shampoos: Redken Smooth Down or Real Control. Alternative lines: Bumble and Bumble Coco, Phyto, Tigi "Control Freak".
Favorite Volumizing Shampoos: My pic on this is one product, and it's the Matrix Volumizing Shampoo. It smells super clean and gets all the gunk out of your hair to make it feel light and bouncy.
Favorite Line for people with thinning hair: Nioxin. If there is hair to be grown, Nioxin will provide the perfect conditions on your scalp for it to grow.
Favorite Deep Conditioners: Redken Real Control Intensive Renewal Alternative Lines: S Factor deep conditioning treatment; Moroccan Oil hair masks, Tigi "Dumb Blonde" for reconstructing damaged hair.
Favorite Oil: Moroccan. Hands Down. As of right now, I can't find a competing brand that is similar enough as far as benefits and features go.
Favorite Blow Dry lotion: Redken Satinwear 02. You can also combine this with the 06 straightening balm for some extra hold, or ringlet 07 if you're blowing it out to have some bend at the ends. (both of these have anti-humectant properties to fight humidity.) When the weather isn't so humid, I often combine Satinwear with 07 Velvet Gelatine. Alternative lines: Moroccan Oil Hydrating Styling Cream.
Favorite Texturizer/Paste: Rewind 06. I just love it for shorter cuts, or to show off piece-y layers.
Favorite Hairspray: Ok, I will say that Redken holds great, but I am picky about scents of products. I don't care for the scents of any of the redken sprays. SO, my recommendations are Rusk W8less for a soft hold, Sebastian Shaper for a stronger hold, and White Sands for an extreme, "once in a while" updo glue type of hold. I also like "Big Sexy Hair".
Favorite Blow dryer: I love my Babyliss Nano Titanium 2000Watt dryer. My last one lasted me three years of working on clients, and is still working. I've upgraded to the newer, lighter version, and I love it just as much. At home, I use a Bed Head dryer that I love as well, that is more of a budget friendly option.
Favorite flat iron: Chi or Solano Sapphire. Solanos have a comb attachment, so it's good for gals with long hair. Chi is a reliable iron that I love, but must be used carefully by women with finer hair. ALWAYS protect your hair with a heat protectant product.
My favorite heat protectant is Satinwear 02 because it doesn't have much of a feel to it at all, so it won't seem like you have "product" on your hair when you're done.
***Please know that my "favorites" are subject to change at any time. I am constantly trying new products to find what I feel most comfortable recommending to you!***
